Overdue Update

It has been far too long...we are truly pathetic. Well, maybe not pathetic just not as good at thinking of things that might be interesting for people to read. But still, that is no excuse and we will try and be better. Many things have happened since our last post. I guess some of the more interesting activities have been Women's Conference for Candace and Kyle's sister's wedding in May. Women's Conference was really fun but crazy with all of the women running around everywhere. It was different this year because we added to new members besides my Mom and sister Julie to the party: my other sister Michelle and my new sister-in-law Stephanie. It was so funny when we checked into the hotel and joked about who should share a bed with Stephanie so that she wouldn't be freaked out and would actually sleep! I work for BYU in the Residence Life department and everyone joked that I escaped the nightmare of having women crawling all over Wyview Park because the women stayed at Helaman and Heritage Halls.

Kyle's sister Elizabeth had her wedding mid-May in St. George. We went down Friday night before the wedding and were able to go through the temple with her. It was really neat to be able to have everyone there. We stayed with Kyle's grandparents and I think they enjoyed having some company. The wedding day was of course crazy busy trying to make sure that everyone was on time and things were ready for the reception that night. Kyle and I did our best to help by making a Costco run and attempting to make lemonade. The most challenging part was probably getting the chocolate fountain to flow without so many bubbles...everyone left that job to Kyle and his engineering tactics. Elizabeth and her new husband looked very happy and it was a great day for everyone.

At the beginning of June we went with the Olson side of the family to Washington DC. It was so much fun to go back east and discover America's capital. We saw every monument I think possible from Thomas Jefferson, Lincoln, Vietnam, WWII, George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt...and the list goes on. I think one of our favorite sites was the Capital. They had amazing art work inside the dome. I really enjoyed Mt. Vernon and Arlington...I don't know...I guess I just enjoy looking at graves or something. We saw the changing of the guard and it was insane because this man decided he was going to try and go over a rope to place a wreath near the tomb and the guard turned and yelled at him with his gun! We also toured the mint which was really interesting...it smelled really bad inside. They told us that we weren't to touch the ceilings or the walls because they were silently alarmed and that if one person did everyone would have to leave. Here are some of the pictures that we took:When we got back from DC my sister Julie had received her mission call. She will be serving in the Frankfurt, Germany mission and leaves October 1st! I don't think many of us were that surprised that she went somewhere German speaking. Over the 4th of July weekend we went up to Bountiful and were able to go through the temple with her. It was good to be all together...and of course that night we went and saw Wall-E. It was so funny...many embedded messages in that film but it was still great. Well, I think this will be all for now and we promise to be better about posting things much sooner...that's probably easier than having to write all of this in one sitting :0

Welcome to our blog! As if you don't hear from us and see us enough...in regards to family members...we decided to plaster our fun tidbits and faces all over the internet for you to enjoy some more. So, ahem....drum roll please...without further adieu, we give you our first posting.
The big news of the day is that Kyle passed his qualifying exams at the Ph.D. level!!! Hooray!!! It's a miracle!!! Not really, we all knew that he would do well but that didn't keep us from worrying and making Kyle study day and night. The test lasted for 3 days, coincidently, it ran over Brandon and Stephanie's wedding so Kyle was unable to make it, but obviously for good reason. We are very happy considering that other students who took the exam didn't pass or didn't pass at the level they were hoping for. So...congratulations go out to Kyle. Job well done!!!
